Cupcake is one of three "bottle" babies
we raised from September 2008. She and her
sisters were found by neighborhood children
who carried them around for awhile. They
called me over to show me, and I immediately
knew they were Gabby's litter. I collected
the kittens in a box, and put them onto our
deck, hoping Gabby would find them.
Unfortunately Mom seemed to ignore the
pitiful cries coming from the box, so I got
some bottles, KMR formula, and basic
instructions from our local pet store.
Fortunately, Barb was on vacation the next
week to handle daytime feedings. I came home
at lunch the following week to do mid-day
feedings, until we finally got the kittens eating solid foods.
Cupcake was the smallest, yet the loudest of
the kittens. I think her mouth was always
open. Now, she is a little bigger than both
of her sisters, but still the most
talkative. Originally, there were four
kittens, and we called them Enie, Meni,
Miney, and Mo. We lost Mo to a respiratory
infection, but the others survived to be
renamed Shotzi, Hermoine, and Cupcake.
Cupcake loves to jump and play. She also
loves to roll in the bathroom sink, and play
with water, as well as the typical cat toys.
It is not unusual to see her and one of her
sisters rolling around the floor wrapped in
each other's paws, or tearing after each
other through the house.
