Bianca on the deck, before being rescued. I felt so bad for her (at this point, her was a guess) when I took this picture. Tortie had just hissed and pawed at her to chase her away from the food dish. She looked so dejected in this picture, she stole my heart.
Here she is, about a month after being rescued, enjoying the safety and comfort of a sheepskin bed in my living room.

Bianca was the first rescue we made. At the time, we had not yet gotten the "big" cage, and realized that if we were going to do this, we needed something else. Fortunately, Petco had the wrong price marked on the play-pen we purchased, and we got it for only 2/3 of it's actual price.

Bianca became the 'mother' figure and model kitten for the others. I worked with her, holding and petting her, and have been immensely rewarded. She is a most loving kitten, who purrs as soon as I touch her. She has had a little trouble warming up to my sister, but we hope this will change with time.
I have since discovered that Bianca is a muted (or diluted) calico/tortoise shell. This makes some sense as her mother was a full black, orange and white tortoise shell. Her sister, Petunia, has similar coloring, but not as much pure white. Bianca is also very long and lean, and I swear she is double-jointed. She has a very long tail that the other kittens love to play with, and the softest, silkiest fur you can feel.
Bianca is maturing quickly, as can be seen in this photo from August 2007. Here she is about 4-5 months old, and is becoming quite the lady. She is not quite as receptive to cuddles as she was, but she does enjoy being petted, and comes in to visit with me at the computer several times an evening. I can always tell her by her soft, silky fur as she winds herself between my ankles.
When Bianca decides to play with the other kittens, she throws herself into the fray with great abandon. In this picture from August 2007, she has tired herself out and curled up, sleeping on a table seat I have set up in front of the window in my computer room.
Here, Bianca is sitting on the same table, watching me work on the computer. I had the scanner humming and all the kittens were very curious about the strange sound. Bianca was not sure if she could touch it or not!
We brought the climbing tree I had purchased for Peaches and Pagos up from the basement. Besides not matching my current color scheme, it was 20 years old, and the carpeting was frayed from years of play. It was also made from a real tree (with bark), which the kittens loved to shred. This made quite a mess on the living room carpet, so it had to go. I bought a new tree with three scratching poles, two perches, a ring, and finally a pagoda on top. Here is Bianca perched on top of the Pagoda, waiting for someone to come up and challenge her.
